Large Antique Chinese Famille Verte Biscuit / Sancai Porcelain Monkey Teapot / Ewer, Qing Dynasty, 18th Century
Up for auction is an fine antique Chinese famille verte biscuit / sancai porcelain monkey teapot / ewer from the
Qing Dynasty, 18th century.
The teapot was molded in the form of a mother monkey holding her baby monkey on her lap.  The mother monkey and her child each hold a peach in their hands.  The large teapot of the mother and child is then finished with a beautiful sancai glaze in three colors: yellow, green, aubergine (brownish-purple).  The large and beautiful teapot is complemented by a square wooden stand.  They make a very nice set.
Condition Report
The monkey teapot / ewer is a pre-owned item with some damage.   The hat, which is also cleverly the teapot cover, unfortunately has a repair.  But it is important to note that the teapot still has its
original
cover; many teapots of this type don't have their covers by now.  The base of the monkey teapot has a star crack due to its antique age.
