This is a hand loomed beaded Native American hatband in a pattern reproduced from the cult movie classic "Billy Jack".  The BJ hatband is made in a continuous circle with a base of upholstery thread.  It is made of size 11/0 seed beads and measures approximately 1 1/4" across.  It does NOT have leather/cloth ties to get dirty or come unfastened.  It is also NOT made with a stretchy thread which will wear out over time and lose the integrity of the design by being pulled open.  The band is specifically made to fit YOUR hat.  It slips over the crown of the hat and fits snuggly at the base.
My hatbands are produced of a mix of traditional and advanced beading methods.  The beads are a reproduction of the type used back in the 1700's to 1800's with slight irregularities.  My beading method incorporates an updated vertical edge which hides the raw edges of the thread and gives the piece a "finished" look.  It also protects the threads from wear.  I use a traditional Ojibwa loom.
The hat shown is a handmade Agnoulita Hats brand which is custom made in Athens, Greece.  It is a round dome, flat brim 100% wool hat, which comes in sizes from 54 to 64 cm.  Please request the size when placing your order.
The crown measures 4 1/2" tall and the brim is 3" wide.  The hat will come packaged in a sturdy round hatbox which is ideal for storage or shipping.

Sizing Instructions:
In order to determine your size you can use either a tape measure or a non-stretchy string.
Place the measure on your forehead, about one-half inch above your eyebrows and pass it around your head, ensuring that the widest part of it is included. Be certain that the tape measure is straight, not twisted. If you use a string, wrap it gently around your head in the same manner. After you have marked the exact circumference, lie the string down on a flat surface and measure the length with a flat ruler. If your measurement falls between sizes go for the larger size.  Please state your size in either inches or centimeters to get a correct fit.
This style was popular with the Native American tribes and the pioneers in the West during the 1800's and is sometimes referred to as a Tiller hat.
