SHAPLEIGH HARDWARE DIAMOND EDGE 7 1/2 SQUARE FACTORY 2ND or REJECT? Make Offer

Hi have for sale a rare irregular Shapleigh's Hardware Diamond Edge 7 1/2 inch square. Square is in really good condition for it's age. What makes this square unique is that the Diamond Edge logo has been stamped out by the factory. ( the sixth pic you can make out the Shapleigh Diamond Edge logo under the punch marks) I have had this in my collection for over 20 years and can not figure out 2 things. 1- Why was the logo stamped out? 2- If it was not manufactured properly, how did it make it out of the factory? The handle appears to be rosewood, the notches are for marking cut lines on wood. There is some staining on the steel. No real pitting. Brass plate and attachment pins are tight. Overall length is 9 inches with a perfect 45 degree angle at the bottom of rosewood handle. Please look at all the pictures closely and if you have any questions please email. Also I would be interested in other peoples opinion on why the logo has been stamped out.
What is it worth? I don't know. Make an offer.
